Motor City Commercial Truck Center has finished with my truck.

Yeah Baby, Yeah

I am happy as crap! I’ll be on the road to Phoenix bright & early Thursday morning. The SaboTrain is rollin’ again. I’ve packed everything up, said my goodbye’s, and I’m ready to roll. Gordon Lightfoot wrote a song about State Road 74 which runs north of Phoenix. I won’t be on that road, but I’ll be driving on the Carefree Highway nonetheless.

Turning back the pages to the times I love best
I wonder if she’ll ever do the same
Now the thing that I call living is just being satisfied
With knowing I got no one left to blame

Carefree highway, got to see you my old flame
Carefree highway, you seen better days
The morning after blues from my head down to my shoes
Carefree highway, let me slip away, slip away on you.

Phoenix is my last stop…

Fixing the Repairs (North American Mega-Transect Saga)

Very entertaining

Fairbanks to Tallahassee (Small)

I’ve been lounging around stealing oxygen from the good people of  Bakersfield, California for 10 days now. By the way, the good townsfolk could really use some learnin’ in the ways of parking and driving in a general forwardly direction. But, I don’t think they’re quite ready for skoolin’ in makin’ them thar autoMobeels go back the way they just came from. Maybe when more oxygen becomes available to them, they’ll pick it up. I doubt it.

My truck should be ready any day now. The 3rd round of repairs are almost complete. To be fair, the dealership in Whitehorse did good solid work. Except for the one wrong part they put on it that caused the second breakdown, which cost them about $2,300 for towing, $580 for the repairs, and around $500 for expenses while stranded in Fort Nelson, British Columbia. Plus the fried turbo and Injector pump that they…

Shenanigans (North American Mega-Transect Saga)

I learned a lot about my truck today. Chris, the tech working on it now took me for a guided tour of what is currently wrong with it and why it happened. He outlined all the common problems that pop up with the LBZ/LLY models. Everything that I am currently experiencing is common, but usually happens before the 100,000 mile mark. And most commonly occur gradually, giving plenty of fair warning to have them attended to before a catastrophic failure. Most people also don’t have them hit catastrophically IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE with no warning and no recourse but to be stranded. He said I’m actually lucky that they didn’t happen a year or more ago.

Chris also showed me a long block plus for an ’09 GMC Sierra 3500 single axle that was in the bay next to mine. I was treated to a full explanation of what…

My Drawers Keep Falling! (North American Mega-Transect Saga)

Very detailed as to why he wants to keep his truck.

Sunday, July 10th, 2016.

On the morning of Thursday the 7th, I pulled out of the truck stop where we had spent the night. I had been looking for a truck wash since Prince George. I needed to get all the dirt off my rig. I’m telling you, I had 1/3 of Alaska’s dirt and at least 1/2 of Canada’s dirt caked on my truck and camper. It. Was. Nasty. O don’t like dirt on my vehicles! There was a truck wash across the street from us so naturally I had to get myself in line.’Waitin at the car wash, woh oh woh oh woh oh woh, waitin at the car wash, yeah.’ By noonish, we were on the road again!

The drive down I-5 was uneventful, not much to see here folks. Instead of taking I-5 down through Los Angeles as the GPS orders, we decide to take US…

Oh Ya, ‘Dem Buns, Eh? (North American Mega-Transect Saga)

Great piece!

So, the past couple of days have sucked as well. We left Nugget City (me, Gmom, and Penny) with no actual fanfare. But it was a good feeling to finally be on the road under our own power, and our own schedule. We left around 11 am, since I scheduled a short day, just driving to Fort Nelson, BC. Just a short 320 miles. We were HAPPY!

IMG_5116 I mean really, teach them not to run in to each other! It’s not really that hard.

Well, 175 miles later my ‘Low Coolant’ warning came one. Literally 2 seconds later my ‘Engine Coolant Hot’ warning replaced it. Mind you, my temperature gauge only reads about 240 degrees during this. Then my check engine light lights up. I look for enough room to pull off the road. Within a minute or two, I find one. My temp gauge made…

I’m not the blogger in the family, that title is actually held by my husband.  If you have the chance, you can read his blog.  You can get to it from my page.  He truly is gifted with words and the ability to write.
